Oceanography of the North Sea-Baltic Sea transition zone
Thorkild Aarup
The bathymetry of the transition zone (left) plays a key role in the coastal circulation and dispersion of river runoff from Northern Europe. The gridded plot of Secchi disk measurements (below) summarizes observations made in the Skagerrak, Kattegat and surrounding waters (from Oceanologia 2002, 44, pp. 323-337, www.iopan.gda.pl/oceanologia/443aarup.pdf).
